Friends Google has sent email notifications to some Google Ads advertisers about the change to remove unnecessary keyword suggestions. In short, Google is expanding this recommendation to work across match types. How to Google ads remove keyword now?

Google Ads Remove Unnecessary Keywords recommendation now applies across match types.The announcement says Google is making "improvements" to these recommendation types, but I'm not sure advertisers would call that an improvement.

Google says that currently, the "remove redundant keywords" re-commendation suggests redundant keywords within the same ad group, destination, bidding strategy and match type. But that is changing; 

Google will now work on these recommendations across different match types. "Starting January 19, recommendations can include keywords across a wide range of matches," Google said.

Google says you can view the Match Type report to see this by clicking on "Segments" in the "Search Keywords" report and then selecting "Search Term Match Type."

Google says they're making this change so you can more easily manage your accounts Google says it "doesn't negatively impact your performance, and still allows your ads to appear in the same search."

The example Google gives is if your ad group contains the phrase match keyword "women's hats" and the broad match keyword ladies hats, 

Google will recommend that you remove the phase match keyword because the broad match keyword ladies hats covers all searches from "ladies' hats". by "

Obviously, Google wants you to go with broad matches on these recommendations.
